Design Guide

There are four different degrees of detail in the print, depending on the profile of the mat. The same applies to other suppliers, apart from small variations in printing technique and material.

The height of the rug decides how sharp the print becomes. When you step on a mat with a long rug the rug folds, and thin lines disappear into it. A mat with a long rug therefore needs a simpler print and thicker lines than a mat with a shorter rug.

Four degrees of detail

1. Mats with a flat rug — PHOTO and TABLE TOP

Photo print. These mats are primarily for advertising, not for absorbing dirt or moisture. They are produced on a four-colour printer, so the accuracy and the colour scale are almost unrestricted.

2. Mats with a short rug — HIGH-RES

At least the width of a match on the lines. If you are looking for a mat that absorbs dirt and has a detailed print, choose HIGH-RES.

3. Mats with a medium rug — LOGO

At least the thickness of two matches on the lines. A true workhorse that absorbs dirt and moisture effectively. Like all our quality mats, the rug is coloured all the way down to the rubber bottom.

4. Mats with a long rug — MARATHON

At least the thickness of three matches on the lines. The king of corridor mats. A high but very dense rug that absorbs dirt and works as a sound absorber.

Chromo or digital print

Mats with a flat surface, PHOTO and TABLE TOP, are printed on a device similar to a colour printer. This makes the images detailed and gives a wide colour spectrum.

Mats with a longer rug are printed with chromo printing: the rug is spray-painted all the way down to the root, which makes the colour last for the lifetime of the mat.

Colour options

Flat-rug mats are printed in full four-colour. Chromo printing uses 66 standard colours.

When you send us your logo, pattern or photograph we make a proposal from the standard palette and send it to you for approval. Exact spot colours are possible for an additional fee.

Does this sound difficult?

No worries. Send us your material and your wishes and we will fix it — you only need to approve the design before the mat goes to production.

When customers send print-ready material the drafts are always free. If design help is needed for a print original or graphic design, 40 €/h is invoiced (0 % VAT), with a minimum charge of 20 €.
